ICYMI, Apple Pay is now officially available in Malaysia! The mobile payment service that launched today, 9th August 2022 allows consumers to perform contactless payment through their iOS devices such as iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac.

An easier, safer and more secure way to pay for everything you need, be in-store, in apps or on the web, Apple Pay brings added speed and convenience to one’s daily life.

Our customers in Malaysia will benefit from using Apple Pay with the support of the most popular banks, merchants, and our customers’ favourite apps”, says Jennifer Bailey, Apple’s vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet.
However, it’s important to note only cardholders with Visa and Mastercard issued by Ambank, Maybank and Standard Chartered Bank will be able to enjoy the Apple Pay feature. For Ambank and Standard Chartered Bank, only credit cards are supported while Maybank supports credit, debit and prepaid cards.
What About Security & Privacy?
If you’re worried about security and privacy, not to fret, because Apple Pay features industry-leading protection of f users’ personal information, transaction data, and credit and debit card information.
Your credit and debit card numbers will not be stored on devices or on Apple serves, instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element on the user’s device, and each transaction is authorised with a one-time unique dynamic security code. It also doesn’t retain any transaction information.
How To Use Apple Pay In-Stores?
Simply hold iPhone or Apple Watch near the contactless terminal, and authenticate using Face ID or Touch ID.
For Transactions On Safari
Customers can use Apple Pay without having to create an account, key in a PIN, fill out lengthy forms, or repeatedly type in shipping and billing information. Every Apple Pay purchase is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode, as well as a one-time unique dynamic security code.
