Maxis Wireless Broadband Casual Surfer
This is an ideal option if you’re looking for a basic broadband plan. For RM72.08 (inclusive of GST), you’ll get high speed LTE 4G connection with 8GB data quota. You’ll also get 21Mbps mobile WiFi modem for FREE, although there is an advance payment of RM240 for LTE mobile WiFi Modem if you prefer the faster option. Don’t worry, the advance payment will be refunded over 12 month period.
When you’re at a location that has 4G connection, you can surf at the speed of up to 75Mbps, although the typical average speed ranges between 10Mbps to 30Mbps. Do take note that while the total data quota is 8GB, it is split between peak and off peak periods. That means you’ll get 4GB between 8am - 2am which is the peak period, then another 4GB quota for the off peak period which is between 2am - 8am. Once you reach your quota, your speed will be reduced to 64kbps.

For a monthly charge of RM93.28 (inclusive of GST) you’ll get total of 23GB data quota with 4G LTE connection (in LTE coverage areas). In terms of data quota, the 23GB is divided between 9GB for peak period (8am – 2am) and 14GB quota for off peak period (2am-8am). However, the 23GB data quota is only until 30th June 2016, after which the data quota will be 21GB - divided between 7GB for peak period and 14GB quota during off peak period.
This broadband plan comes with a free 21Mbps mobile MiFi Modem which allows connection to be shared between 5 users, making it great for sharing. But if you prefer a faster Internet speed, you can get a 4G MiFi Modem for an additional fee of RM99.

Here’s another broadband plan that is suitable for regular Internet usage, for RM88 (RM93.28 inclusive of GST) a month you’ll get a total of 20GB that is divided into 5GB during peak hours (8am-2am) and 15GB for off-peak hours (2am – 8am). You’ll also get a 21Mbps mobile WiFi Modem for free. However, if you want a faster modem, you can opt for the LTE 4G MiFi modem with a device advance payment of RM240 that will be refunded over 12 months.Take note that this broadband plan is subjected to 12 months contract.

At RM93.28 (inclusive of GST) this broadband plan offers 16GB data quota and comes with a free Yes Huddle XS 4G mobile hotspot. A plus point is that the Huddle XS modem allows up to 5 devices to share the connection., so this broadband plan is also ideal for sharing. Another good point is that there are no charges if you exceed your data usage quota, but you will be surfing the net at a lower speed of 128kbps.
However, the downside to this broadband plan is the 16GB data quota, as it is only valid until 30 April 2016, after which monthly data quota will be reduced to 5.5GB for RM88 (RM93.28 with GST). The latter is considered quite steep, especially when you can get more data for the same price with a different Telco. This broadband plan is also tied to 12 months contract. There is an activation fee of RM106, rounding up the upfront payment to RM199.28.
And The Winner Is…
The U Mobile MB88 plan which is currently the best value for money broadband plan out of the four plans on this list. For a monthly fee of RM88 (RM93.28 after GST) you get 23GB (until the promotional period ends at 30th June 2016). But even after the promotion ends, the data quota is 21GB which is still the most quota you get for that price when compared to the other plans. You can easily opt out anytime you want as well since there is no contract trying you down to this plan.
